This policy explains what information boardflix ("we", "us") collects when you use this website and how it is used. By using the site you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Gameplay: games against the computer and games on one device run in your browser. Moves are not sent to us or stored.
• Private rooms and online games: when you create or join a room, we create a guest account for you automatically. It consists of a random identifier, a display name ("Guest 1234" unless you change it) and your seat in the room. Moves, dice rolls and shuffled cards are decided and kept on our servers only while a game is in progress. When a game ends we keep a short record of the result (the game played, the date, and whether each player won, lost, drew or abandoned it). Rooms and their game state are deleted automatically when the last player leaves or the room expires.
• Room chat: chat messages are relayed live between the people in a room and are not stored by us. They exist only in the players' browsers and disappear when the page is closed or the room is empty. We cannot read or restore them afterwards.
• Basic technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider records standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time) for security and to keep the site running.
• Analytics: we may use privacy-respecting analytics to count visits and see which games are popular.
• Accounts: you do not need an account to play. The guest account above is created only if you use online rooms. If we add sign-in with an email address or another service later, we will collect only what is needed to run it and update this policy first.
• Messages: if you email us, we keep your message and address so we can reply.

Advertising and cookies

We show advertising to keep the games free. Advertising partners, including Google, may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads and measure them. This can include ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

• Google uses advertising cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
• Where required (for example in the European Economic Area and the UK), we ask for your consent before using non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time.
• Use the "Privacy choices" link in the footer to review or change your consent choices for advertising.
• You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The games will still work.

How we use information

To run and secure the site, understand how it is used, show advertising, and respond to messages. We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing

We share data only with service providers that help run the site (hosting, analytics, advertising), when the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users. Our database and live connection provider for online rooms is Supabase, which stores the guest account and match records described above on our behalf. Our web hosting provider is Hostinger, and our domain and network provider is Cloudflare.

How long we keep information

• Room codes, seats and in-progress game state: deleted when the room closes, and at the latest a few hours after it was created.
• Chat messages: never stored.
• Guest accounts and result records: kept so players can see their record, and deleted on request (see Your rights).
• Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a limited time for security.

Children

boardflix is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to how it is used. To have a guest account and its result records deleted, tell us the display name and approximate time you played. Contact us at [email protected] to make a request.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
